Why is travel medical insurance important?

Reason 1: Sickness, Accident and Medical Evacuation Benefits

During your trip or international experience, you may need to see a doctor, have a prescription filled, receive care at a hospital, or deal with an unexpected medical emergency. Remember:

  • Domestic health coverage may have limited coverage for illnesses or injuries incurred outside the United States. Some plans will cover such expenses, but at a reduced rate.

  • Most health plans do not cover medical evacuation, which can cost $200,000 or more.

The Sickness, Accident and Medical Evacuation benefits provided can help protect you against these unforeseeable circumstances. In addition, the Global Medical Assistance Service that is included provides round-the-clock support that may help you handle an unforeseen emergency.

Reason 2: Access to Paperless, Cashless, Convenient Direct Pay and Appointment Scheduling

When working with doctors and hospitals in our contracted healthcare provider network, the check-in and check-out process is simple! Alert us to when you are going to or at the provider's office and we will arrange to pay the doctor or hospital directly through our Direct Pay service. We'll even waive the deductible if a member sees a participating physician. In addition, members have access to appointment scheduling assistance. Members can call or email us to request appointments with doctors and hospitals and we will assist in the set-up facilitation with one of our contracted healthcare providers.
